John A. Tarantino
John A. Tarantino is a principal, trial attorney and president of the law firm of Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C. with offices in Providence, Rhode Island and Boston, Massachusetts. He lectures frequently on trial techniques, evidence, ethics and civil and criminal procedure, and is the author of a number of texts including Litigating Neck & Back Injuries (2d ed. James 1996); Personal Injury Forms: Discovery & Settlement (2d ed. James 1995); Environmental Liability Transaction Guide (Aspen Law & Business 1992); Commercial Premises Liability (Wiley 1991); Premises Security: Law & Practice (Wiley 1990); Personal Injury Trial Handbook (Wiley 1989); Strategic Use of Scientific Evidence (Aspen Law & Business 1988); Estimating & Proving Personal Injury Damages (James 1988); Defending Drinking Drivers (2d ed. James 1986); and DWI Defense Forms (James 1984).

He has written more than 175 articles on various aspects of the law including product liability, discovery, evidence, procedure, trial strategy, criminal law, legal ethics and forensic science. His articles have appeared in such journals and magazines as The Suffolk University Law Review, The Connecticut Bar Journal, The Rhode Island Bar Journal, Barrister, Criminal Justice, The Compleat Lawyer, The Forensic Evidence Review, The Champion, The Practical Lawyer, The Practical Litigator, and Lawyers Weekly USA. He is a founder, and now serves as Executive Editor of DWI Journal: Law & Science (Whitaker Newsletters), and from 1984 through 1990 he served as a columnist and contributing editor for The Champion, the magazine of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

John Tarantino is recognized in The Best Lawyers of America in the field of litigation. He also has been recognized by Rhode Island Monthly Magazine as one of “The Best Lawyers in Rhode Island” in the field of litigation. In addition to his writings, he is a frequent lecturer, seminar speaker, panelist and instructor on various areas of the law including litigation, trial practice, ethics and professional responsibility.

John Tarantino is a member of the United States, Rhode Island and Massachusetts bars, as well as the bars of a number of federal district and appellate courts, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (Defense Member), the Defense Research Institute, the Rhode Island Trial Lawyers Association, the American Judicature Society, the American Law Institute, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Justinian Society, the St. Thomas Moore Society, the National Italian-American Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association Sections on Science and Technology, Trial Practice and Trial Evidence, Computer and Technology Law, Tort and Insurance Practice, Litigation, Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law, and the ABA National White Collar Crime Committee and its Subcommittees on Bank, Fraud and Organizational Sentencing Guidelines, has served as Vice Chair of the ABA Committee on Scientific Evidence and is a provisional member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. John Tarantino has also served as Treasurer and as a Regent of the National College for DUI Defense, and is also a founding member of that National College. He holds the rank of Barrister in the Roger Williams University Law School American Inns of Court. From 1997 to 1998, he served as President of the Rhode Island Bar Association and served on its Executive Committee from 1992 through 1999. He continues to serve on the Rhode Island Bar Association's House of Delegates.

From 1994 through 1998, he also served on the Board of Directors of the New England Bar Association. He has also held numerous other leadership positions in the Bar, including the Chair of Public Relations for the Rhode Island Bar Association, Chair of the Rhode Island Bar Association's Ethics and Professionalism Committee, Chair of the Rhode Island Bar Association's Committee on Lawyer Advertising and Chair of the Rhode Island Bar Association's Committee on Independence of the Judiciary. Finally, Mr. Tarantino has been appointed by the Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court to the Future of the Courts Committee.
